Web lesson - Project #3
Presentation of authentic materials
This project is a pedagogically sound presentation of an authentic
text for language instruction. Use the handout for the Shrum & Glisan Interactive
model from the Teacher's Handbook or the PACE model by
Bonnie Adair-Hauck and Richard Donato in designing your activities. (You can use a different recognized model for teaching with authentic materials that you have studied, check it out with me first. e.g. SIOP or Consciousness raising : Overview; Aproach; Samples from Paulo Quaglio Activities; Call of the Wild)
Requirements: the following components need to be present
in the project (in addition to using authentic text to support teachig language/culture):
At least 6 pages, including a number of different functions such as:
- Description of learning goals (SWBAT)
- Pre-reading/listening preparation
- Presentation of authentic text
- Vocabulary support (gloss)
- Comprehension and Interpretation activities or PACE activities
(separate by pages, clearly
- Feedback for activities
Left, center, and right alignment for text or graphics (not spaces - not all 3 may be needed in your project); tables should set size as a percentage, not as an absolute number of pixels (unless you have a good reason for doing otherwise).
Use of accented characters if appropriate: Voilà

Use of bold and italics for emphasis - Be BOLD but don't overdo it.
A list (numbered or bulleted--such as this one)

Links/jumps from text and graphics
- Text box
- Popup window or some sophisticated feedback method for student responses & glossing
- Hidden text with mouseover
Correct spelling! Accurate grammar! (Though naturally I shouldn't have to say this.)
- First page will be index.html (project is in its own folder))
Turn in a printed copy of your "Description of learning goals - SWBAT "
along with your storyboard or flow chart.
- Explain which pedagogical model you are using and how you are implementing it.
You will give a brief in-class presentation of your
project. Projects will be online.
