Dorothy Arnsdorff Award

Physical Education Department, SUNY Cortland

The Dorothy Arnsdorff Award is presented annually to a woman in the physical education teacher certification program at SUNY Cortland.  The recipient must have demonstrated strong academic performance and student taught during the current academic year.  In addition to teaching promise,  the recipient shall have demonstrated strong potential for professional development and leadership.


Dr. Arnsdorff Dr. Dorothy Arnsdorff taught in the Women's Physical Education Department at SUNY Cortland from 1947 - 1982. She is remembered for her professionalism, guidance, motivational skills, and high ethical and academic standards as she mentored thousands of Cortland physical education majors.  Her former students have become superb teachers and leaders in the field.
