Whats Happening Now!!!

Family Movie Nights

      On Friday evening, January 22nd we will be having our premier Family MovieNight with the showing of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". We are able to do this because of the generous donation of our friends group to purchase the movie license. Then on Groundhogs Day, February 2nd we are having another movie night with the showing of "Groundhogs Day". The Friends group are providing Groundhog Day sundaes for all attendees. Both of these movies begin at 6:30 pm.

Altered Books

      Sandy Yahner will teach a workshop on how to make altered books on Thursday, January 21st at 6:00 pm. If you are not sure what an "altered book" is, you can google it and find some images on the Internet or you can stop by the library to see the display. This workshop will take 2 evenings to complete. The participants will decide on the second evening date for meeting. The modest fee of $15.00 is due at time of registration. heART Continues

      Sandy Yahner continues with the heART group on Wednesday evenings throughout the month. Currently they are working on projects to help the SPCA. The beginning time for this is at 6:30 pm.  heART is sponsoring a food drive for the orphaned dogs and cats at the Cortland SPCA. Please help us by donating a small bag of dog or cat food.  Make a donation and receive
a free bookmark created by heART. Donations may be dropped off at Peck Memorial Library during our opening hours. If you
cannot bring in a bag of food you may feed dogs and cats by going to this website www.freekibble.com.

Volunteering at the Library

          If you have a little extra time and would like to give a helping hand with everyday tasks at the library please
contact Mary Frank for a schedule and a list of tasks that help is needed with. Tasks include assisting at the desk,
phoning patrons, shelving books, dusting and more. You can volunteer on a weekly or monthly basis or a one time
shot on specific tasks. It is up to you and the time you have available (as long as it fits in with what needs doing).
         Another way to assist the library meet it's day to day needs for cleaning supplies, etc. is to add some of the
following items to your shopping list and drop them off at the library.  As of September 9th, the list of needed
supplies is:  Paper Towels (Bounty or Brawny), 13 gal Trash Bags, Top Job or similar cleaner,
Endust, Febreeze, Clorox Wipes, and Bathroom Bowl Cleaner.

         One of the several perks for becoming a member comes up at the annual book sale.
Members are allowed to preview and buy books that are going to be available to the public
during the Maple Festival.  Use the 2010 Membership Form above to become a member.
