Family Movie Nights
"Where the Wild Things Are" will be shown for the Family
Movie Night on March 19th @ 6:30 pm at the Peck Memorial Library. Popcorn
and water will be available. We have the movie to bring families together,
so kids make sure you bring an adult with you! There is no set fee to attend
movie night, but if you can please make a donation to the Keep the Library
Warm box. The movie license was purchased by the Friends of Peck Memorial.
If the weather is bad, please call to make sure the event has not been cancelled. |
Crocheters and Knitters
Tired of winter, tired of creating by yourself? Come
to the Library to crochet and/or knit with others. Don't have anything to
work on? You can crochet/knit hats for our hat giveaway basket or you can
start early and work on dish clothes for this year's Christmas baskets. Yarn
for these will be provided. Don't know how to crochet we will be happy to
teach you. The first meeting will be Wed. March 24 at 6:30. Future dates
to be determined by the group. This should be a great opportunity to meet
with friends old and new while creating and sharing ideas. |
Opportunity to Help the Library
Help in preparing for and working during the Library
Book Sale for this years Maple Fest is needed. Book sorting is scheduled
to begin 2-5pm on Fri. Feb. 26th and continue each Friday until that chore
is completed. People are also needed during the festival an April 11th
and 12th during the sale. Mary has suggested that at least two persons
should be on duty to aid the book browsers throughout the two days of the
fest. Two hour shifts, 9 to 11, 11 to 1, and 1 to 3 can be arranged
for those willing to help out at this time. |
Membership Drive
At the Feb. Friends of Peck executive committee meeting
it was suggested that current members be charged with the responsibility
of bringing in new members to the FOP. As an incentive will we offer
a gift certificate to Dunkin' Donuts to the current member that brings in
the most new members. |

Are you interested in learning to play BRIDGE
? If so, the lessons are continuing on Wednesday evenings from
6:30 - 8:00pm.. A series of four to six lessons are planned. No
prior experience is necessary. If there is enough participation, the
group may split into a beginning group and a group with some playing experience.
Jim McConnell and Dorothy Colaw are offerring the instruction. If
interested, please call or leave word at the library that you will be
participating so that we can be prepared with enough card tables. The

Tammy Whitson is our featured artist for the upcoming
monthly craft class. This will be held on Thursday evening, March 18th at
6:00 pm. There is a modest fee of $2.00 to attend the class. Also there will
be a "Make It, Take It" opportunity that you might want to take advantage
of. If you would like to take some home, you will be able to choose between
5 essential oils and have a small jar to take it home in. We need you to
sign up for this class as space is limited. You can call us at 849-6135 or

heART Continues
Sandy Yahner continues with the heART group on Wednesday
evenings throughout the month. Currently they are working on projects to
help the SPCA. The beginning time for this is at 6:30 pm. heART is
sponsoring a food drive for the orphaned dogs and cats at the Cortland SPCA.
Please help us by donating a small bag of dog or cat food. Make a donation
and receive a free bookmark created by heART. Donations may be dropped
off at Peck Memorial Library during our opening hours. If you cannot bring
in a bag of food you may feed dogs and cats by going to this website
www.freekibble.com.
As of 3/18/2010, the SPCA food drive sponsored
by heART has delivered over 100 lbs of pet food. If you haven't had a chance
to donate, the drive will continue until April 1. Let's see if we can double
that amount. Remember for every bag you bring in you get a book marker created
by heART. If you can't donate food this way you can go to freekibble.com
and play their trivia games. They will donate food every time you play and
it only takes a minute of your time. Thanks from the members of heART and
all the dogs and cats. |
