Meet the Staff
Merle Canfield
Associate Director of Institutional Research and Assessment
Merle Canfield is currently the Director for the office of
Institutional Research and Assessment. Merle has his Ph.D. in Social Psychology
from the University of Kansas. Merle's job responsibilities include
the following:
-Gathers/Compiles
and analyzes statistical data for internal and external reports
-Works closely with faculty/staff to evaluate the college
Service Units through a long term assessment plan in
order to ensure the quality of the
college
-Conducts field-specific surveys for internal and
external assessments
-Designs interactive data sources to allow
for faculty, students, and
community to research characteristics of the college
Kathy Gustafson
Keyboard Specialist I of Institutional Research and Assessment
Kathy Gustafson is the Keyboard Specialist I for the office of Institutional Research
and Assessment. She provides friendly and supporive clerical assistance for
the office. She enjoys being able to apply her science background from SUNY
Cortland in the variety of work experiences in the office. Some of Kathy's
job responsibilities include the following:
-Greeting visitors and directing telephone inquiries
-Maintaining the office calenders and follow-up activities
-Maintains the filing and database information systems
-Supports assessment projects
- Assists in the completion of survey-related functions
Kevin Weber
Graduate Assistant/Office Assistant of Institutional Research and Assessment
Kevin Weber is currently the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Institutional
Research and Assessment. He received his Bachelor's degree in Adolescence
Education: Mathematics from SUNY Cortland, and is currently enrolled in the
Masters of
Science in Education program at SUNY Cortland persuing a Masters degree
in Adolescence
Education: Mathematics. Kevin's
job responsibilities include the following:
-Designs/Manages and updates SUNY Cortland's Online Fact Book
-Creator/Designer for SUNY Cortland's Fast Fact Brochure, published for
students, faculty, and community to obtain information on the college
-Assists in the assessment of the college's Service Units
-Completes all miscellaneous duties assigned through the office
