You may be a mining company, vacation area, or just an independent country.
In addition to developing your planet area, you must also develop a marketing plan that includes publishing a travel brochure and poster, building a model of the area (using recycled materials), present this to potential investors (that would be me and the rest of the class) in a power point that includes a virtual field trip to the planet and its’ offerings.
All of the team members must be a part of the presentation. The talk must be professional (remember you are trying to get us to support you). You will be judged on the completeness of your information, you personal appearance, and your ability to answer questions.
- Your presentation must link to other curriculum areas and include;
- Math, an operating budget and information about your currency.
- Social Studies, Links to the countries and the organizations of Earth (NATO, The EU, The UN, etc.
- Other things to consider; waste disposal, trade agreements, immigration rules, a justice system, correctional facilities, power, food, and water sources (use your planet wisely).
Travel brochure: This is to be a double sided tri-fold handout. You will be graded on the use of color, pictures, and the use of different font styles. The brochure should be attractive, interesting, and draw in potential vacationers, workers, immigrants, etc.
Travel poster: This is to be a 17” x 22” computer generated poster. You may reduce it tone-fourth ( ¼) size. This would be an 8 ½” x 11” paper size. It will be judged in the same manner as the travel brochure.
Power point: Use of color, creativity, and the applicability of pictures will be judged. I understand that some pictures may not fully reflect the conditions of your planet but the main concepts / ideas must come across. The power point and the presentation must go together.
