Private William Davies, Co. A
and his wife, Mary Driscoll Davies

The photographs on this page were sent to me in May 2002 by Larry Crane, who is a great-great-grandson of William Davies and Mary Driscoll Davies. The pictures appear here with his permission. Larry is the same person who previously sent me the transcripts of six letters from Davies and a transcript of David A. Norris' account of Potter's Raid on Tarboro. I am grateful to him for his very significant contributions to this site.

William Davies Mary Driscoll Davies
The photograph of William Davies, Sr. in civilian clothes is thought to have been taken shortly before his enlistment in 1862. The photograph of Mary Driscoll Davies is probably from about 1860.

Davies was the writer and his wife was the recipient of the six letters that can be found on this site under the title "Letters from Pvt. William Davies to His Wife." He is also the Davies who is mentioned in David A. Norris' article about the 12th, that too can be found on this site.
