Ribbon from 1897 Reunion at Buffalo

The image of the reunion ribbon on this page was sent to me in November 1999 by Tonia Hannemann of Cocoa Beach, Florida, who is a great-granddaughter of John O'Connor (Co. H). In her turn, she had received it from Nancy Monahan of Rochester, NY, another great-granddaughter of John O'Connor.

If anyone else has such a treasure, please let me know. I would love to have more similar images.

Residents of the Buffalo area could do me a big favor by checking out old newspaper files for the dates around August 24, 1897, in order to see what coverage this reunion got in the local papers.

Those interested in this reunion should see the article from The National Tribune re Lieutenant Alonzo Cooper's jug of whiskey.

Note: In November 2002 I purchased my own copy of this 1897 reunion ribbon. It is a lovely golden yellow, and I shall scan it and install the image here when I get the opportunity.
