August 12, 2001 I received an email from his great-granddaughter, Beverly G. Kirby-McDonough. She provided me with the following information:
. . .
Robert T. H. Russell was born in Whitby, Canada. He died at age 51 years, 7 months, on August 20, 1891, in Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Robert is interred at Calvary Cemetery (Section 11, Range 1, Plot G, Grave 15) in Woodside, Queens, New York. I visited Robert's grave on Saturday, August 11th, and was very disappointed to find that there is no marker. However, New Jersey Vital Records and Calvary Cemetery records confirm that he is there.
Robert Russell married Elizabeth Moran (widow of Joseph O'Connor) on December 21, 1865 in Manhattan, New York, NY. The couple had three sons, Robert, William and Dudley; and one daughter, Cora, who is my grandmother.
The source of this information is the Civil War Pension file of Robert T. H. Russell, and the widow's pension application of Elizabeth Russell. These documents came from the United States National Archives in Washington, D. C. . . .
