-- **** make sure you allocate sufficient time each week to complete the course requirements (approximately 9 hours per week for a 3 credit course - including in class time)

-- read and completely understand the syllabus - check it for updates

-- check the activities schedule frequently and stay on top of weekly assignments

***** Note that all weekly assignments are posted from the web site.  The text and Office related tests and the lab assignments must be completed by midnight of the week they are assigned.

Material for Discovering Computers:

-- read the assigned material in your text

-- review the supplements on the companion web site linked on class web site

-- take the weekly chapter test (e.g. Chapter 1 quiz) *** note that you may take each chapter test twice and your highest score is the one that will be recorded. As soon as you click on a test it is "live" and your grade will be submitted automatically, even if you do not answer any questions, that counts as your grade and it will register as a 0.

Material for Office 2010:

-- go to the SAM testing site available directly or from a link on the class web site.

-- determine the chapter you wish to work on - e.g. Word 1

-- there will be two folders associated with that chapter – one for training and one for the test

-- complete the training module (scores for these do not count towards your course grades, they may be completed as many times as you wish and will be available throughout the semester)

-- complete the test (each may only be taken twice – any time you open it counts as a trial, must be completed by the assigned day)

You have two chances to take each Office test, if you are not satisfied with your first grade you may redo the training and/or take the test again directly.

*** note that as soon as you click on a test it is "live" and your grade will be submitted automatically, even if you do not answer any questions, that counts as your grade and it will register as a 0.
