Biography of Ivan Pavlov

Ivan Pavlov was born in Russia on September 26, 1849. He began hiseducational career at a church school and theological seminary. He gave up hisstudy of theology to attend the University of St. Petersburg to study chemistryand physiology. He finally received his degree in medicine and became askillful surgeon and professor. He investigated the structure of the humanheart and the regulation of blood pressure. Furthermore, he analyzed thesecretory activity of digestion in animals. Thus, bringing him to becomeinterested in how his conditoning would affect the salivatory secretions in hisdogs. At the end of his career, he applied his concepts to the study of mentalillness known as neuroses and psychoses. It should be noted that in 1904, hewon the Nobel Prize for physiology.
