Section C.3:     Ex. A,  p.195

1)  Normalmente(Normally, Usually --  "Di solito" = usually, typically)  Cristina e Roberto passano la serata
insieme a casa e raramente(rarely -- "non..quasi mai" = Almost never) escono.  Oggi, però, Roberto ha telefonato
a Cristina al lavoro e le ha parlato misteriosamente   (mysteriously -- "in modo molto strano" = in a very strange way) .
Le ha detto semplicemente(simply -- "solo" = only)   di essere pronta per uscire alle sette e mezzo.
Quella sera l'ha portata a mangiare all'osteria Zi' Rosella dove si mangia divinamente
("divinely"--excellently  --  "in modo squisito" = in an exquisite (fine) way)

2)  Recentemente(Recently --  "Non molto tempo fa" = not long ago) Andrew è andato in Italia
per seguire un corso intensivo di lingua italiana.  Ha studiato molto e ha imparato
rapidamente (quickly -- "in poco tempo" = in a short time).  Ora parla bene l'italiano:
non perfettamente(perfectly -- "senza errori" = without errors), si capisce, ma abbastanza
accuratamente (accurately  --  "in modo preciso" = in a precise/exact/accurate way)

Quando sono a casa mangio molto bene.                       When I'm at home, I eat  very  well.
Mia madre è molto brava in cucina e sa preparare          My mother is  very  good in the kitchen and knows how to prepare
molti piatti che sono buoni ma che sono molto sani       many  dishes that are good but which are  very  healthy
allo stesso tempo.   Poi mangiamo molte verdure           at the same time.  Then also we eat many  vegetables

Quando esco con gli amici invece è tutta un'altra storia.          When I go out with my friends, on the other hand, it's a totally different story.
Andiamo molto spesso alla stessa pizzeria.  La pizza lì          We  very  often go to the same pizzeria.  The pizza there
non è male, ma ci mettono troppo olio.  E poi ci piace          isn't bad, but they put  too much  oil on it.  And we also like to eat
mangiare nei fast food.  Il cibo lì non costa molto (troppo)    in fast food places.  The food there doesn't cost  much (a lot) / too much
anche se tutti sanno che mangiare spesso hamburger              even if everyone knows that eating hamburgers often
non fa molto / troppo bene alla salute!                                doesn't do your health  much (a lot of) / too much  good.

1)  Mario knows (is familiar with) all the restuarants of the city.  He is a habitual customer of the "La Forchetta" restaurant:
        the waiters  know (are acquainted with) him, and they know what dishes he prefers.

2)  We don't know how to cook very well, so we go eat at a restaurant.  We ask a friend:
        "Tullio, do you know where the Osteria del Giglio is?"   He responds:   "I don't know that (information),
        but I know of (am familiar with) a good/nice trattoria near here."

3)  I know (am aquainted with) that gentleman seated at the table down there, but I don't know where I've seen him before.
