Portfolio Assignment

The portfolio assignment is in place of a final exam in the course. It is meant to showcase what you have learned about creating web pages, producing professional looking desktop published documents and using advanced features of PowerPoint.
This semester your homework projects have centered on the fictional Whitney Point Small Animal Zoo. For your portfolio assignment, I would like you to select a fictional or real organization, group or business. The only selection that is off limits for a subject is another zoo. You will create a portfolio of work for the organization or business as if you were trying to sell your skills to them for the job of Media Consultant.
Your portfolio must be mounted on your Cortland website. It must also be in your folder on the shares server. Your portfolio is due no later than Monday, May 17th by noon. You may submit it early. Please send me an e-mail (gretchen.douglas@cortland.edu) when it is ready to grade. Late portfolios go down 10 points per day.
Here’s what must be in the portfolio:
- An initial web page named portfolio.htm. All the other items in the portfolio should be set up as hyperlinks from this page. The page should also include a brief description of the organization or business, your name and your e-mail address as a hyperlink.
- Three web pages related to your topic. The web pages must include each element listed (they can be on any page)
- At least 2 images wrapped around text, with an ALT attribute for each picture
- Colored background for at least one page or a picture used as a background for at least one page
- Headings (at least 2 different sizes)
- Horizontal rule with an attribute of your choice
- Hyperlink to a web page not part of your site
- Hyperlinks to targets within the same web page
- Bolded text, italicized text and text in a color other than black
- A table with at least four of the following attributes
- spanned column
- change in vertical alignment of row or column data
- change in color of a cell
- a caption
- height and width of table
- border
- cellpadding
- cellspacing
- An image map or form or frames
- A list (may be bulleted, numbered or definition)
- Correct HTML coding (for example you included the html and /html tags)
- The following documents for your business or organization created in Publisher
- A newsletter
- A tri-fold brochure
- An invitation
- A poster
- A business card
- 2 PowerPoint presentations with the following elements
- At least 5 slides per presentation
- One presentation should use a design template
- At least 3 slide layouts other than bulleted list
- Change the bullets on one bulleted list slide to a graphic
- In one presentation make a modification to the Slide Master and in the notes section of slide 1 tell me what modification you have made
- Clip art or images from files added to at least 4 slides (can be more)
- One clip art image should have one of the following:
- a change to the border color and thickness
- a picture style
- change to the picture contrast
- Note the change in the Notes section of the slide
- Word Art added to at least one slide. Change the text effect or the weight of the text outline of the WordArt.
- A shape added to a slide with a motion path
- A text box added to a slide
- A hyperlink to a related web page
- A table
- A chart
- A SmartArt Diagram
- Action buttons in one presentation
- Custom animation on at least 2 slides
- Slide transitions in one (or both) PowerPoint presentations
- Sound effects
- Changed background for at least one slide
- Multimedia - either video clip, sound clip, or narration for 2 or more slides
- One presentation saved as a web page (please keep the original in your folder as well)
- One presentation as a timed presentation with a hidden slide
