Improving your writing in French - for students studying at  SUNY Cortland or over the Internet

The course syllabus including all assignments and materials will be available online.

The purpose of this course is to improve writing in French though "la pratique" which can mean practice, the act of writing, the techniques involved, or all of the above. All materials for the course will be available online so no textbook will be used. Students will write short essays about topics related to French civilization and their own personal experiences,  keep a journal, and correspond with other students. Current materials from the WWW including video and audio media, newspapers, government and business sites, and sites of personal interest will serve as the basis of discussion and the source of topics. On-campus students will attend classes, but off-campus students may meet all requirements via the Internet.

High School students taking the course may take it on their own schedule and so do not need to follow the SUNY Cortland calendar.  The level of the course is aimed at post intermediate students, i.e. HS French 5 and beyond.  Although no course materials need to be bought, students need Internet access, a World Wide Web browser, the Real Player and Adobe Acrobat plug-ins (downloadable for free), and a word processor.
