Assignment: Course Web-folio
Assignment description and corresponding grading rubric:

Course Web-folio Assignment

A Course Web-folio is meant to showcase what you have learned through the educational experiences that you've had while enrolled and participating in this course. Your Course Web-folio should offer viewers with a collection of the work that you've completed in class enhanced with corresponding reflections on what you've learned by completing each assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to establish a Course Web-folio to communicate and electronically publish your learning experiences throughout this course.

Assignment description:

For this assignment, you are asked to create a web site that will serve as an electronic web-folio to showcase what you've learned throughout this course. Although there will be some in-class time provided to work on this project, it will be impossible to complete this project in its entirety in class. Therefore, it will be necessary for you to work on this project outside of class. It is important for you to know that the Memorial Library's Information Literacy Program offers workshops on web page design if you need additional assistance.

Steps to complete this project:

1. Identify your web audience.

2. Establish a list of information that you'd like to communicate.

3. Draw a flow chart illustrating the navigation of your information.

4. Bring your illustrated flow chart with you to class for your first Course Web-folio checkpoint date for peer feedback (March 15).

5. Begin to work on your Course Web-folio, establishing a look for the first page of your site (including a menu listing).

6. Bring your saved files with you to class so we can work on them together for your second Course Web-folio check-point date (March 29).

7. Work on the secondary pages of your Course Web-folio, adding artifacts that represent your work.

8. Bring your saved working Course Web-folio to class to review it with classmates and receive feedback for the third checkpoint date (April 12).

9. Complete your Course Web-folio and be sure to view it on a PC and Mac platform to review what your audience will see.

10. Be sure that your site is working properly and prepare to present your portfolio presentation.

11. Present your Course Web-folio to a small group of students and receive feedback (Date: TBA).

12. Use the peer feedback you've gathered from your presentation (step 11) and present your Course Web-folio during finals week. The date and time of your portfolio presentation will be provided when the final exam schedule is posted.

Please note:
Your Course Web-folio assignment will be assessed using two different grades. One grade will be determined through a series of short-answer questions that will be distributed following your final Web-folio presentation. The short-answer questions will be based on the inquiry into social studies content and technology that has been discussed in large and small group conversations in class and through your exploration of technology as a teaching tool. Five points of your Web-folio grade will be based on this short-answer exercise. The other grade that you will receive for your Course Web-folio assignment will be based on a criterion that ensures a solid web-site design. The criteria are outlined on the rubric that corresponds to this assignment (15 points).
