Here are the notes from
this past week in class:
We spent time discussing
field placements and early experiences students have had. Each
class, we will continue to dedicate some in-class time to
discussing field experiences.
We spent some time viewing a
film about Action Research. In the film, teachers and
administrators worked to try to solve educational problems and to
better understand ways to assist students by using action
research. The most important aspect of this film was to begin to
understand the steps of the Action Research process. As our text
(A Short Guide to Action Research) mentions, there are six
components of action research. They are:
1. Define the question, problem, area of interest
2. Review the literature
3. Plan Data collection
4. Collect and analyze data
5 Create an action plan
6. Share findings and plan of action
As you may have observed in
the film, some researchers define 5 steps of the process, while
others separate numbers 5 and 6 above. For our in class
discussions, we'll refer to the text's six steps I've listed
above.
In class, we also began to
discuss some assignments due for this class. Please refer to the
assignments section of this site to reference these assignments.
That's all for this week.
Keep reading, keep learning and keep coming to class! ~Kim
