For those of you that also have Dr. Shufang Shi for your EDU 314 class, read
the following:
Please bring your Wolf Journal books with you to Dr. Shi's class as well as to my class tomorrow. During Shufang's class you will need to divide yourself into 5 teams (3-4 per group) to work on your WebQuests. Each group will be assigned the chapters listed below. You will develop your WebQuest to expand on a science or social studies concept that is presented in the chapters of Wolf Journal assigned to your group. You are to assume that the elementary students you are creating this for have read those chapters and know what is going on in the story. You may need to point them to the specific pages your WebQuest connects with, or put in a sentence or two quote to help them make the connection. This WebQuest should be appropriate for the sixth grade level. Students in my course next fall will be using your WebQuests with sixth grade students in Mr. Pinto's class as they read Wolf Journal together. My hope is that you will also use them in your future teaching. I will be posting copies of these WebQuests on the class website so that you'll be able to access them later. Please make sure to follow copyright laws (i.e. only use images that are free for use for educational purposes and cite ALL your sources). I will also ask the author of Wolf Journal (Brian Connolly) to review your WebQuests so he can share them with the many teachers he hears from to use with their students (his publisher might even link to them!)
