Nvu (New View): A Web Authoring Tool
Nvu is a complete Web Authoring System for
Linux desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users
to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (which stands
for "new view") makes managing a website a snap. Now anyone can
create webpages and manage a website with no technical expertise
or knowledge of HTML (Cited from NVU

KOMPOZER - NVU 1.0, released in June 2005, is the
last official release that you will find at most download sites,
however, it isn't the newest or best version of the Nvu software.
An unofficial bugfix/update called "KompoZer" is available
here. KompoZer is not a cure-all
for all the bugs in NVU 1.0, but it does fix some of the major annoyances.
If you use NVU 1.0 and it works for you, stick with it. But if you
run into problems, give KompoZer a try and see if it helps.

Nvu is a WYSIWYG (What You See
Is What You Get) web editor. When you design a web page or write
a document with a WYSIWYG editor (or word processor), the editor
displays the page exactly (or almost exactly) as it will appear
when you publish the web page or when you print it out. WYSIWYG
means that what you see on the screen is what you will get on output.
