Locative Classifiers

Whole Entity Classifiers are used for locating objects in space.  The noun must still be clearly signed before the classifier is used.  Signing a classifier phrase requires the use of both hands.

When using both hands sign the larger object first with your non-dominant hand and place it into space using a classifier.  Next, sign the smaller object with our dominant hand then palce the smaller classifier onto the larger classifier handshape.

Example:

English:  The dog is on the bed.

ASL: BED CL:B, DOG CL:bent V -on- CL:B

HINT:
To help you better understand how to sign locative classifiers, think of how an artist draws a picture.  If you were going to draw a lamp on a table, you would start by drawing the table first.  Then you would draw the lamp on the table.  That is exactly how you create the picture in ASL.  Visualize it and set it up.
Example:

English:  The lamp is on the table.

ASL: TABLE CL:B, LAMP CL:A-on- CL:B
