Authors (Date) Project Title Description
Professional Development Theme
Fried, AP (2003) Science, Pedagogy, and Change: An Analysis of Science Faculty in a Higher Education Context, Responding to Change and Innovation (PDF) This paper is a look into change in college science faculty. This paper looks at current research and applies change literature to current findings. There exists some predictive values for change with college science faculty.
Web-Based Support Systems Theme The following projects represent some of the author’s work in development of a model for Web-Based Instructional Support Systems (WBISS) and actual WBISS products.

Functional WBISS with Associated Products

Fried, AP (2005)

Work in Progress - BIO110 - 111 Website Project

This work represents my capstone project. Currently, this is a work in progress.

Initial Instructional Development Model

Fried, AP (2003)

Rapid Prototyping of Web-Based Instructional Support Systems for Introductory College Science Environments (PDF) This paper describes a model for higher education faculty to use in order to design, develop, and implement a WBISS. This paper is based on dealing with problems created by large group instruction in college science education.

Revised ID Model with a Stronger Focus on Rapid Prototyping

Fried, AP (2005)

Three Phase Rapid Instructional Development Model:

- Model Graphic
- Model Summary

This revised instructional development model was created with the goal to decrease the time required to produce functional instructional interventions. Although this model is more generic than the original WBISS model, This model was used during the implementation of the BIOLAB website above.

Front-End Analysis Plan

Fried, AP (2003)

Front-End Analysis Plan for Rapid Prototyping of Web-Based Instructional Support Systems for Introductory College Science Environments (PDF) This paper describes a front – end assessment plan that college science faculty can use in order to understand the educational needs that can be addressed by the design, development, and implementation of a WBISS. This plan was implemented for the BIOLAB project. See the FEA report above to view the practical outcomes.

Front-End Analysis Tool Described in the Above Plan

Fried, AP (2003)

Student course evaluation committees as a front – end analysis tool (PDF) This paper describes a method of using student evaluation as an effective tool for completing front – end analysis and evaluation of existing courses and curricula.

Other Instructional Design & Development Products
Fried, A.P., Lee, Y., Zannini, K., Cortez, J., Wheeler, D. (2005). Instructional Design Theory Database. (Website) This functional database allows an individual to be able to search through 50 instructional design theories based on there characteristics.

Fried, AP (2004) Finding Good References (Website) This is a tutorial created help students evaluate the credibility of websites.

Lebron, M, Fried, AP, Epling, JE (2002) Training Curriculum in Domestic Violence Screening for Health Professionals (PDF)
This paper includes the work product that followed a redesign of the domestic violence screening training program provided by the Syracuse Area Domestic Violence Council (SADVC) and Vera House. The authors used the Morrison, Ross, and Kemp instructional design model in order to evaluate the old curriculum and plan a new curriculum.

Delapp, I, Fried, AP (2002 & 2004) - A guide to searching medical databases (2002) (PDF)
- Revised guide to searching medical databases (2004) (PDF)
- Project Summary (2002) (PDF)
This guide and its supporting document are the product of an instructional design project completed by the authors. The authors sought to create an instructional product that would serve as a quick reference for searching medical databases (like NLM and CINAHL).

Fried, AP (2003) Educational Technology Issues: Web Accessibility (Web Site) This Website walks user through the educational technology issue of Web Accessibility. This Site includes a brief presentation and many useful links.
