Awards Ceremony Committee

“To organize and administer an annual award ceremony that recognizes the outstanding achievements of students and faculty in the Sport Management major, both inside and outside the classroom.  Moreover, it is the responsibility of the Committee to attract a keynote speaker for the award ceremony in hope that he/she will  deliver an uplifting and important message to sport management students and faculty.”

ABOUT THE COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

“To be a consistent  gateway to Sport Management students and faculty by informing them of the activities of the Sport Management Club.  Various mediums of reaching members of the Sport Management Program include: updating bulletin boards in Studio West  and updating  the Club website, which will ensure that information is disseminated efficiently and effectively. 

 

Cortaca Committee

“To raise funds for the Dolores Bogart Scholarship, while offering students hands- on experience concerning areas of marketing, designing, and selling of merchandise pertaining to the annual “Cortaca-Jug” football game.”

 

Madden Committee

“To organize and administer an annual “Madden Football” video-gaming tournament  in aspirations of donating significant funds to a select charitable organization, while ascertaining the enjoyment of all of the tournament’s participants. “

 

Marketing Committee
ABOUT THE MARKETING COMMITTEE
“To market and promote a positive image of the Sport Management Club in order to augment participation among  Sport Management majors.   Also, to undertake a semester-long project that involves either the sale or promotion of a product, service, or idea.

 

Special Events/External Relations

“To coordinate all of the Sport Management Club’s unique and educational outings to various sporting-industry locations across the region.  These trips are designed to enhance students’ comprehension of the sports business, while allowing students to network with many sporting organizations.”

 

Walk-A-Thon Committee

“To raise funds for various external charitable organization by means of organizing and planning an annual “Walk-a-Thon” on the SUNY Cortland campus.   The event is designed to provide a fun and healthy atmosphere for our participants and workers, all while offering a hands-on learning experience to committee members in the areas of event management and marketing.”

 

Wingate Committee

“To honor Dr. Suzanne Wingate, the founder of the SUNY Cortland Sport Management  program, by organizing and administering an annual golf tournament in her name, and in doing so, raising the maximum amount of money to donate to the Suzanne Wingate Memorial Scholarship Fund, while ensuring that the tournament is an enjoyable event for all persons involved.”
