About 1767 | Sometime between 1765 and 1769 son Moses was born--location not recorded. Also, the move from Connecticut to New York must have been accomplished about this time. |
1769 | At New Concord, New York. As Clerk of the Parish, he was among 20 signatories of a petition addressed to the Anglican Society for the Propagation of the Gospel pleading for the services of Rev. Gideon Bostwick in New Concord. |

October 4, 1777 | Capitulated, took an oath of allegiance to State of New York, and was discharged. |
March 1, 1778 | At Derby for baptism of daughter [second] Charity at St. James Church, Derby, Connecticut. Apparently the Charity baptized in 1772 had not survived. |
December 1779 | Listed on the tax roll in King’s District, New York. It is not quite clear from the record whether he was in the Beat of Capt. Elijah Bostwick or Capt. John Salisbury. He was assessed with real property of 150 pounds and personal property of 44 pounds. A tax of 38 pounds and 16 shillings was levied against him. |
November 9, 1785 | Lydia, the daughter of his son Lemuel, was baptized at New Concord, New York, by Rev. Gideon Bostwick of St. James Church, Great Barrington, Massachusetts. It is not known whether Moses was present. |
1790 | Counted in the U.S. Census at Canaan Town in Columbia County, New York. There were two white males 16 and over, one white male under 16, and two white females. At this time the sons Lemuel, Ebenezer, and Moses, Jr. had left home. Even so, there seems to be a discrepancy in the count of the males, and perhaps also in that of the females. |
1800 | In the U.S. Census, he appears to have a joint household with his son Moses. The household includes:
1 male under 10 1 male 26 but under 45 (Moses, Jr.?) 1 male 45 and over (Moses?) 2 females under 10 1 female 16 but under 26 (likely to be Charity, born in 1778?) 1 female 26 but under 45 (wife of Moses, Jr.?) 1 female 45 and over (Mindwell, wife of Moses?) |
1801 | Listed on Road Beat #18 as Church Warden of New Concord’s defunct Anglican Church. Conceivably, this could be his son, Moses, but that seems unlikely unless his son had also become Church Warden. Beat #18 was to the south of New Concord and “ended at the Hillsdale Line.” |
