My Reflection on CTEs and Students' Course Reflections

Having such an unbelievably high CTE and positive comments from students left me little room to improve. It is equally unnerving as if I got "record low" CTEs. What I did know that I did right in this class was I really challenged the students' thinking with "thought-provoking materials". Students went beyond my requirements to come up with highly engaging, challenging lesson plans with their students. I kept telling them that they were not developing lesson plans for me, the intructor for this course. They were designing learning opportunities for future citizens in this country. Almost all students used children's literature to teach social studies themes. I was so happy to see their lesson demonstrations, which they put in so much effort to make it interesting, worthwhile, and meaningful for their students.

I don't think I could maintain such a "perfect" CTE whenever I teach this same course, but I do understand that it is possible to really make real learning occur in my course.

I appreciated all the support from other faculty working with me in both sections and I'm thankful for students' cooperation and understanding throughout the semester.
